Welcome to SARDINEUM, Austria’s finest specialty store for premium sardines in oil

Since January 2024, our flagship store has been based in the beautiful town of Bruck an der Mur in Styria, Austria. Our online shop launched on September 1, 2025. 

About Us

We are the Sardineum team:
Christian Pirker (Founder & Owner) and Karin Pirker-Brandner.

Fish Selection

By now, around 500 varieties of sardines in oil fill our shelves — alongside anchovies, tuna, mackerel, sprats, mussels, cod liver, surströmming, and more.
Most of our selection comes from France, Portugal, Spain, and Greece (a true insider tip!), with additional specialties from other countries as well.

Fine Foods

Beyond sardines, you’ll find a wide range of gourmet delicacies at Sardineum:
olives & olive oils, fish spreads, fish soups, Dijon mustard, aioli, piri-piri, snails, seaweed, sweet pastries, and a variety of savory snacks from France, Portugal, and Spain.

Beverage Selection (bottle sales)

Our “Shelf of Rare Drinks” features around 100 carefully selected beverages, including port wine, vermouth, pastis and other anisettes, bitters, rum, sherry — and of course wine and sparkling wine.

Colorful Tin & Metal

Our secondary assortment continues to grow and thrive:
nostalgic tin toys as well as decorative and everyday objects made from upcycled metal from Africa and India — bowls, trays, lamps, figurines, and more.

Tableware

Sardines deserve to be beautifully presented and served.
That’s why we offer elegant maritime tableware and matching décor — perfect for when guests come over again.

Opening Hours & Closing Days 2025

Please note — especially if you are traveling from further away — that Sardineum is generally open from Wednesday to Saturday, with only a few exceptions
(see exact opening hours in the footer).
There are only a small number of unscheduled closing days and additional opening days.

Additional Opening Days 2025

Before Christmas, we will be exceptionally open on:

• Tuesday, December 23, 2025

• and even on Christmas Eve.
